SHEFFIELD WOMEN'S AID
Our mission is to ensure safe and secure accommodation for Women, Children and Young People who have experienced abuse from a person or people who they have a close personal relationship with. Sheffield Womens Aid offer support to help women, children and young people understand and recover from the effects of that abuse, and will help them to regain confidence and skills to move on from our support to lead safe, full and independent lives.
What about my pets?
Anyone can contact Sheffield Women's Aid and refer themselves, although some people can be reffered through other agencies. Any agency can refer into the service on behalf of a woman needing emergency accommodation. The agency will be asked some brief questions first and then we would need to talk to the woman directly. If the woman is not currently with the agency in person then we will need her contact details and a safe time to make the call to her. The safety of the woman and her children is paramount to us so a ‘safe time’ is vital.
What is a refuge and what are our refuges like?

Message from a woman whilst living in the refuge
Domestic Abuse is the name for frightening and controlling behaviour that happens between people who are living together, in relationship or who are related to each other – brothers, sisters, grandparents, parents, aunties and uncles.
